Also known as HRC or hot rolled steel sheet in coil, the material is produced by rolling steel slabs at elevated temperatures, followed by controlled cooling and coiling. Its chemical composition, rolling conditions and cooling process are controlled according to the specified grade and required mechanical properties.

Grade designations from different standards are not automatically interchangeable. The applicable standard, chemical composition and mechanical requirements must be confirmed before quotation.
Surface and Delivery Conditions
As-Rolled Hot Rolled Coil
As-rolled or black hot rolled coil retains the oxide scale formed during rolling and cooling. It is commonly used for structural fabrication, welding, blanking and applications where a pickled surface is not required.
Hot Rolled Pickled Coil
A hot rolled pickled coil is processed through an acid-pickling line to remove surface mill scale. It is normally lightly oiled afterward to provide temporary corrosion protection during storage and transportation.
Compared with black hot rolled coiled steel, the pickled product provides a cleaner and more uniform surface for stamping, welding, coating and further processing.
Pickling does not turn hot rolled steel into cold rolled steel. The product remains hot rolled unless it undergoes an additional cold-reduction process.
HR Pickled Sheet
HR pickled sheet is produced by levelling and cutting pickled hot rolled coil into specified sheet dimensions.
It is suitable for customers requiring clean, flat blanks for stamping, welding or fabrication without processing coils at their own facility.
Dry pickled sheets can also be supplied where required, but they need suitable storage and corrosion protection because the oil film has been omitted.

For steel-disc production, the coil width and blanking layout can be selected according to the required disc diameter to improve material utilization. Final yield also depends on edge allowance, coil-width tolerance, blanking clearance and production-line configuration.
Hot Rolled Steel for LPG Cylinders
Steel used for welded LPG cylinders requires a controlled combination of deep-drawing performance, strength, elongation, thickness consistency, weldability and material traceability.
Grades such as HP295 and HP325 are specifically used for welded gas cylinder applications. The final grade and thickness must correspond to the approved cylinder design, manufacturing process and applicable cylinder standard.
General structural hot rolled coiled steel should not replace specified gas cylinder steel without technical evaluation and approval.
