Gas Cylinder Components

A: The primary purpose of a rifle carry handle is to provide a secure grip for transporting firearms while also acting as a stabilizing device when shooting from a standing, kneeling, or prone position.

A: If a cylinder valve for liquefied gas is equipped with a safety valve (e.g. as in the case of CO2), transport the gas cylinder in an upright position. In open vehicles, all of the gas cylinders must generally be transported in either a horizontal or a vertical position.

A: Gas cylinders must be secured at all times to prevent tipping. Use appropriate material, such as chain, plastic coated wire cable, commercial straps, etc., to secure cylinders. Cylinders must be segregated in hazard classes while in storage.

A: Never drag, roll, or slide a cylinder—always use a cylinder cart or dolly specifically designed for gas transport. Cylinders must remain upright and secured during transport to prevent tipping. Do not lift cylinders by their valve or cap. Instead, use appropriate lifting devices if needed.

A: Typically, designing the handle diameter to be 1.6″ (41 mm) will enable most users to utilize an optimal grip. But if that's not possible, it's acceptable to design for a diameter between 1.2″ (31 mm) and 2.0″ (51 mm).

Always store and use gas bottles in an upright position.
Store gas bottles in a well-ventilated place.
Ensure gas bottles are stored away from sources of heat and ignition.
Make sure gas bottles are stored outside, away from building entry/exit points and drains.
