Cylinder Bung Manufacturing Process

1. Raw Material Preparation

Qualified steel bars or billets are cut into controlled blanks. Raw materials are selected according to the specified chemical composition, mechanical properties and weldability requirements.

2. Forging or Forming

Where required, the blank is hot-forged to obtain the basic boss profile and appropriate material flow.

3. Heat Treatment

Normalizing or another specified heat-treatment process may be used depending on the material grade, production method and customer requirements.

4. CNC Machining

The outside diameter, bore, welding profile and positioning surfaces are machined to the required dimensions and tolerances.

5. Valve-Thread Machining

The internal valve thread is produced using controlled tooling. Thread gauges are used where applicable to verify thread form and effective dimensions.

6. Inspection
