Fusible Safety Plug

The fusible plug used in boiler is a critical safety component, also known as a Fusible Safety Plug. When the fusible alloy melts due to overheating, it creates an opening through which substances such as steam and water inside the pressure vessel can escape. This effectively reduces the temperature and pressure within the vessel, thereby preventing a potential explosion. Once the fusible alloy has melted, the fusible plug must be replaced before the vessel can be safely returned to service. Regular inspection and maintenance of the fusible plug are essential to ensure its reliability and effectiveness as a safety device.

Commonly referred to as a safety valve in the industry, this product features a brass body with a bismuth alloy fusible core. It is installed via threads into the pre-drilled hole on the cylinder valve seat.

Under normal operating conditions, the fusible plug remains securely sealed. When the cylinder is exposed to high temperatures-such as during a fire or other abnormal situations-the bismuth alloy core melts quickly upon reaching the preset temperature, allowing a controlled release of internal pressure. This effectively prevents safety incidents caused by overpressure. Once activated, the plug cannot be reused and must be replaced to ensure continued safe operation of the cylinder.
