The master switch that controls the gas supply from the cylinder. It is opened or closed by rotating a handwheel (operating spindle) and is the component most frequently operated in daily use.
Located within or at the outlet of the main valve, it is the connection point for the inlet of the regulator. It commonly features a reverse thread (left-hand thread) design-tighten counterclockwise and loosen clockwise, which is a safety feature to prevent incorrect operation. A rubber sealing ring inside typically ensures a leak-proof connection.
The most crucial passive safety device. If internal pressure rises abnormally and exceeds a set limit (e.g., due to exposure to fire or extreme sun), a fusible alloy disc inside will melt or a spring mechanism will activate. This automatically releases gas to reduce pressure, preventing a physical explosion of the cylinder. Users must never tamper with or block this valve.
Although a separate accessory from the cylinder itself, it is an essential component for safe operation. It connects to the outlet valve core. Its function is to steadily reduce the high-pressure gas from the cylinder (0.5-1.2 MPa) to the low pressure required by appliances (approx. 2.8 kPa). A qualified regulator can also automatically cut off the gas flow if the outlet hose accidentally detaches. It is imperative to use a regulator specifically designed for the gas source (LPG or natural gas).
